Wallace And Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl
I love Gromit, he rules, he’s so cool and funny and I want to be his best friend.
I’ll admit I watched this one a bit ago on opening weekend as they say. I liked it! The emotional aspect at the end felt a little shoehorned in at the end but it’s strong from start to finish.
I love Aardman, they can do no wrong in my eyes so this review might not be as useful as others I’ve written. I love Gromit, he rules, he’s so cool and funny and I want to be his best friend. Wallace is there.
I’ll say this: Vengeance Most Fowl was the first W&G film (a phrase I’m trying to get going) without Peter Sallis playing W, but Benjamin Whitehead dutifully steps and does a great job as our cheese obsessed inventor.
The plot of Vengeance is basically Wallace makes a bunch of robots that can do menial tasks but they get hacked by Feathers McGraw an evil penguin out for revenge (most fowl).
Feathers uses the army of bots to begin to escape and with a diamond and Gromit through the vague help of Wallace saves the day.
NOW.
This movie says some weird stuff about AI. Like that it’s bad (YAY) but also at the end everyone gets alone with the robots (BOOO). It’s a mixed message at best.
The film also portrays cops as more or less morons, which I always love. A bumbling police chef won’t listen to the brand new female officer and of course gets his comeuppance.
I love these films, I find them so comforting. I think that this is perhaps the least successful of the W&G films for me. It feels between a short and a feature length and some things fall flat. But, it’s pleasant throughout and I love the world (England) that the film allows you to sit in for a bit.
Here’s a really cool video about how Aardman makes their movie magic if you’re keen!
All and all have a watch if you’re a fan of Aardman!
The runtime is 79 minutes.
